ERCI Switches to RDK for New Customer Application

OAKLAND, CA - 30 May 2002 - John Rosengard, head of the consulting firm Environmental Risk Communications, Inc., has built a healthy business on the observation that “Just because we can’t know everything isn’t the reason to say we know nothing.” ERCI’s mission is to help its Fortune 500 industrial clients calculate their environmental liabilities. To make this complex process more immediately accessible, ERCI has recently shifted to Palisade’s open-architecture @RISK Developer’s Kit—the RDK—as the backbone for its new DueDiligence Defender software.

While ERCI’s earlier tools for its customers made use of competitor Crystal Ball’s antiquated architecture, Rosengard needed to make some big improvements when he began work on DueDiligence Defender. “Our clients are entering an era of tighter accounting practices. The SEC, the IRS, and now—in the post-Enron era—stockholders, expect any company to put transparent real-world prices on their environmental uncertainties.” What this means in practical terms, he said, is that as more people in each company will be looking at environmental liabilities, more people will be sharing simulation results. “We needed seamless integration with Microsoft Access, and we were looking for a simpler, easier, and more robust interface for our users. RDK was the only product on the market that could meet these needs. It gives us – and our users - a huge advantage.”
